So many aspects of commercial construction incorporate modular components; furniture, flooring, lighting, communications equipment, ceilings, and signage, to name a few.

The reasons we utilize an increasing number of modular components in our facilities are obvious:

  • To cope with growth or constriction
  • To accommodate relocation
  • To facilitate changes in space utilization

As the pace of daily life increases, and as certain vertical markets such as healthcare, undergo dramatic changes in capacity needs and functionality, the ability to adapt to those changes becomes more urgent. Non-adaptable space must be re-constructed, sometimes frequently.

So Neocase asks a simple question: In an environment where most surrounding components are designed to be reconfigured and re-used, why is most commercial casework designed to be used only once, and then discarded?

The disadvantages to the use of fixed millwork in a dynamic environment may seem obvious, but are worth highlighting:

  • Higher long term costs with millwork churn
  • Repeat construction and repair cost with demolition
  • Higher land fill usage and transportation expense
  • Poor tax treatment

Use of modular millwork eliminates all of those negatives and yields its own set of advantages:

  • In house moves are quick and easy
  • Change and re-design can be done on the fly
  • Minimal disruption to existing structures; elimination of wall blocking
  • Adaptable to unexpected positioning of walls, utilities or other obstructions
  • Depreciable as furniture
  • Efficient long term investment

Neocase incorporates some simple, but effective construction techniques to make all of its products modular:

  • More substantial substrates and tight joinery eliminate torque when moved.
  • Cabinetry stands alone with separate sub tops and integral bases
  • Base cabinets contain leveling glides
  • Overhead cabinets mount with a flexible horizontal rail system
  • Better overall construction increases cabinet life.
